West Midlands businessman runs the WOLF for Georgia

PRESS RELEASE

Release date: 27April 2014

Local businessman runs the WOLF for Georgia

A local businessman is set to tackle woods, obstacles, lakes and fields (WOLF) on a gruelling ten kilometre run, as he aims to raise £5,000 for a local charity that is close to his heart.

Brett Barton, Director at the Cranfield Group in Coventry, has signed up to compete in this year's WOLF run in order to raise much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. The charity provides a free ‘home from home' for parents with children in hospital, at nearby Birmingham Children's Hospital

Should Brett reach his fundraising target, he will be able to name one of the rooms in Ronald McDonald House after an inspirational 12 year old, Georgia, who has overcome over 60 brain surgery operations. It was Georgia's own positive fun-loving attitude to life, and Brett's own experience of visiting her on many occasions at Birmingham's Children's Hospital that made him want to pick such a vigorous physical challenge.

Of his upcoming charity challenge Brett said: "I decided to set myself the challenge of competing in the WOLF run in aid of Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham and all the fantastic work they do. It is a cause extremely close to my heart as the charity has provided enormous support whenever Georgia has been in hospital. Seeing all the challenges Georgia has overcome is incredibly humbling, and I thought to myself if she can overcome such major obstacles in her life, while remaining brave and smiling, then I can complete the WOLF run in aid of her and the great support Georgia and her family have received from Ronald McDonald House."

Brett has dedicated his spare time to training for the WOLF run and is well on the way to reaching his fundraising target after collecting donations and receiving t-shirt sponsorship from ten local businesses. They are:The Brooke Charity, GVA Grimley, Bridge PR, Wright Hassall LLP, Murphy Salisbury, LDP Luckmans, MGR Appraisals, Lloyds Bank, RKH and Squire Sanders.

The Cranfield Group is committed to creating a lasting, positive impact within the local communities it works in. In recent years this has taken the form of sponsorship for up and coming local athletes and charitable donations to other worthy causes. In addition to this the Cranfield Group has named Ronald McDonald House Birmingham as its chosen charity for 2014 and agreed to match the total raised by Brett.
