Simon Joyce, MD of Anchor Vans to participate in Ironman Bolton 2018


Anchor Vans is pleased to announce that Managing Director, Simon Joyce, will be participating in Ironman UK in Bolton being held on 15th July 2018.
 

Now in its 40thyear, Ironman is recognised as one of the toughest events for athletes, and even the most experienced athletes find the long-distance triathlon courses highly challenging. An Ironman distance event consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle ride and a 26 mile run, taking place globally each event attracts thousands of participants. 

Simon Joyce commented: "I've raised almost £6,000 for charity through my races so far, and hope that Ironman UK in Bolton will encourage even more gifting to good causes. I do encourage my team at Anchor Vans to participate in a variety of sporting events and in May we'll be fielding a team at Tough Mudder in support of the Rosemary Appeal. This is the second year Anchor Vans have participated in Tough Mudder and it promotes employee team building whilst encouraging health and fitness amongst employees".

This will be Simon Joyce's fourth Ironman distance triathlon. The hard work and determination displayed by Simon in the workplace is most certainly reflected in his sporting achievements. He is a prime example of a successful businessman who manages to combine excellence in sporting prowess within his daily routine. Simon has demonstrated fitness at peak levels and is a great ambassador for young men and women juggling careers and fitness challenges. 

The Bolton based event begins with a lake swim at Pennington Flash, moving on to a two-loop cycle course which incorporates the arduous Sheep House Lane climb. Finally, the marathon distance run begins at Queens Park in Bolton where athletes head into the town centre and back through the park for four loops before completing the course in Victoria Square. Spectators will find a variety of outstanding vantage points to view the races, including Sheep House Lane, where they will be able to get up close to cyclists in the true style of the Tour de France, Queens Park for the run and Pennington Flash for the swim start.
