Jean Foulds | Restless Sea

This spring, painter Jean Foulds exhibits a collection of past and present works inspired by the precious beauty and natural energy of Cornwall's Atlantic waters. Entitled Restless Sea, the exhibition is on show from 9thApril to 6th May at Lelant's Scarlet Wines & The Vineyard Table, a deli and dining venue whose exhibition space offers both aspiring and established local artists the opportunity to showcase new work.
In these paintings and sculptures, bold, abstract compositions and fluidity of line describe the vitality of Cornwall's ocean, its hidden depths, and its relationship with our spectacular coast. At a moment when the health and protection of our seas is at the forefront of national debate, works in this collection, such as Plastic, capture a historic moment when our behaviour towards the world's oceans is changing for the better.
Created in and around Mounts Bay by one of the area's rising abstract painters, an artist whose work is strongly associated with the Modernist tradition of painting in Cornwall, this is an exhibition inspired by the unique qualities of the Cornish coast.
