First Annual Spring Mixed Show

Mim Brigham glass work

From Whit Week and throughout June, Whitewater Gallery presents the very first in an ongoing series of annual mixed exhibitions celebrating new Cornish talent, and presenting the very best of the region's established and newly emerging artist and makers. Glass maker and recent Plymouth College of Art graduate Mim Brigham launched her career as one of an exclusive list of makers selected for the British Glass Biennale last year. Her dazzlingly beautiful work takes inspiration from historical cane work and millefiori fusing. Sculptor Kinsley Byrne studied furniture making at Leeds College of Art and Design, with placements at the Ecole Boulle in Paris. His beautifully crafted vessels, lighting and furniture are hand carved from bleached, charred and ebonised oak, English ash and American black walnut. Painter Ness Lannen trained as a surface pattern and textile designer before studying for a BA in Fine Art. She creates atmospheric seascapes influenced by the spectacular coastline between Polzeath and Port Isaac, while Hugh West's images of the North Cornwall coast capture the pure light and natural energy of this uniquely beautiful county.

Work by these artists and more includes painting, print, ceramics, photography, fused glass and hand carved wood. The exhibition opens on 25 May and runs through to the 22 June.
