Open Day at Thornhill Crematorium

An open day is being held at Thornhill Crematorium to help dispel some of the commonly held myths and misgivings about the cremation process and raise public awareness of the services available when dealing with bereavement.

The event, on Saturday 15thJuly, runs from 10am - 2pm and features talks looking at the history and symbolism of memorials, coping with bereavement and loss, a question and answer session with a panel of experts, information stands from local and the opportunity to take a guided tour around the crematorium.

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Bereavement Services, Cllr Michael Michael, said: "People have an understandable tendency to avoid talking about bereavement but, handled sensitively, sometimes the most difficult conversations can be the most valuable. This Open Day is all about giving people access to information that will help them make informed choices about what they want for themselves, and their nearest and dearest, when the time comes."
