Gourmet garden parties and glamping: summer supper clubs offer the chance to escape the city

Home Farm Glamping in Hertfordshire, which is just a tube ride from central London, is hosting its second year of the exclusive Supper Clubs during Summer 2017 in conjunction with Sainlo Events.

The Supper Clubs are gourmet garden parties with international chef Jean-Luc Sainlo leading a team of chefs creating the four courses of the menu in the gorgeous setting of Home Farm Glamping.

The five Supper Clubs being held between May and September are a social dining experience for around 30 guests, some of whom come in groups of friends and others who simply enjoy eating exquisite cuisine in the company of fellow foodies.

Sainlo Events and Home Farm Glamping jointly decided to launch the events last summer as a way to bring a fun social event to the local area throughout the summer and to bring a new "country idyll" twist to the urban supper club trends. Home Farm provides the perfect setting with its geographical location close to London but with rolling landscape views providing a genuine escape from city life.

Jess Allen-Back, who runs Home Farm Glamping, says: ‘Diners particularly enjoy the open nature of the barn, where they can watch the chefs in the kitchen area and see their meal in preparation. That intimacy together with the magic of eating Jean-Luc's delicious and exquisitely presented food within our very rustic barn adds a definite magic to the atmosphere.'

The evening begins at around 7pm and guests are greeted at the barn or on the nearby lawns (weather dependent) and offered a glass of Prosecco. Chef serves canapés for around an hour before inviting guests to take their seats at the table, which is free seating. The menu is very seasonal, and changes for each supper club (with equally delicious vegetarian options being offered on request). Tickets are £50/person. The meal is served over several hours and finishes at around 11:30pm, though there is the option to stay overnight on site in Home Farm's bell tents and yurts.

For Home Farm, which was recently placed in the top 25 glamping sites in the UK, the Supper Clubs provide an opportunity for the foodie community to enjoy a truly spectacular meal in a beautiful setting. Sainlo Events' aim is to build a community of "supper clubbers" who regularly attend events and come together to enjoy exquisite food beautifully presented in this social dining setting.

Jean-Luc Sainlo is delighted that the Supper Club is running for its second year, commenting: ‘Our mission with the supper clubs is to delight the palate and the eye in great company and surroundings. Our guests enjoy exquisite food and a memorable evening in a relaxed and welcoming environment.'

Editor's notes about Home Farm

Run by Jess Allen-Back, 32, Home Farm Glamping is described as Hertfordshire's ‘coolest place under canvas'. A glamorous getaway for locals and city workers from the big smoke, Home Farm is located just five minutes from the end of the Jubilee and Northern Lines. Jess offers weekend and mid-week breaks for families, couples, and friends. The site is also a favourite for corporate retreats, hen weekends and weddings.

With three yurts and nine bell tents on site, bbqs and campfires next to each tent, fine dining options, open air yoga classes, lakes for fishing, and acres of land and woodland to explore, Home Farm isthe kind of glamping where there is everything guests need to both reconnect and disconnect.

Jess, whose family has owned the land for generations, started up Home Farm Glamping in 2015.
