Poole nursery jumps for joy at outstanding Ofsted report

The children at Cuddles Day Nursery Parkstone have been joining staff in jumping for joy at the news of the "Outstanding" Ofsted report received at the beginning of the year. [image]

This is the highest possible rating from the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills and the grade is achieved by only a small percentage of privately ownedEarly Years settings. The nursery scored "Outstanding" in all four areas of assessment.

The nursery was set up by Cuddles founder Linda Duly in 2003, and is one of three privately owned settings in the Poole area. It operates from a purpose-built building situated within the grounds of St Aldhelms Academy in the Parkstone district of Poole, Dorset.

[image]Owner of Cuddles Day Nursery, Linda Duly, said, "We are delighted to have received another Outstanding Ofsted report. At our previous Ofsted inspection in January 2014 Parkstone ranked "Good" and we are very pleased to regain the "Outstanding" classification that we had enjoyed in past years.

"I am particularly pleased for Emma Murray, the Manager at Parkstone and all the staff who through their complete dedication to the job and our children have worked so hard to gain this recognition from Ofsted. "

The report describes how children at the nursery are "exceptionally emotionally secure" which is partly thanks to staff teaching children how to manage risk. From teaching toddlers how to use knives safely to the operation of a "nose blowing station", members of staff are always on hand to offer support, encouragement and stimulation.

The nursery at Parkstone employs 22 members of staff and the report comments how all staff are encouraged to embrace opportunities to further their skills. It gives a prime example where nursery staff support children learning English as a second language with the help of dual-language books and an invitation to parents to share their languages and experiences with children.
