Blazing a trail for contemporary Cornish painting on the London art scene this year, West Cornwall artist Trudy Montgomery will be exhibiting at the Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Park London, from 9th to 12th March with Chelsea's respected Cricket Fine Art.

Montgomery's work, which has so far been exhibited in London, Dubai, Los Angeles and Berlin, is part of a continuation of British Abstract Expressionist painting which has its roots in the internationally celebrated work of Cornish artists such as Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon. Recently returned to the UK after fourteen years in California, her spacious, brightly coloured canvases are inspired by the vivid beauty and pure light of both the Californian and Cornish coast, as well as the free expression of the subjective self, and will be on show amongst the best of British painting, print and sculpture at Battersea Park as part of the Affordable Art Fair's international schedule of selling exhibitions.

Editors Notes

Trudy Montgomery

Trudy Montgomery is one of the next generation of artists in Cornwall whose work is part of a direct line of British expressionist painting which has its roots in the ground-breaking abstraction of artists such as Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon. Recently returned to the UK after fourteen years in California, she now lives and works in an idyllic corner of West Cornwall. Her tendency towards pure, bold colour on an immersive scale is influenced by the light and space of both the Californian and Cornish coast and the artist's own spiritual landscape. Her work has been exhibited in London, Dubai, Los Angeles and Berlin.

Cricket Fine Art

Cricket Fine Art was founded in 1996 and now represents a select group of gifted contemporary artists. The idea of viewing art "at home" is a concept rooted in the design of the gallery, which has the welcoming feel of a furnished house rather than the spare design of the traditional gallery. In this inviting space, vibrantly colourful paintings glow from the soft-toned walls and the smell of sea grass and highly polished furniture make clients feel immediately at home and free to drop in anytime to linger unselfconsciously among the artworks. Cricket Fine Art now sells globally and ships works all over the world.
