BEAT THE HEFTY RAIL FARE 2017 HIKES.

Train fares will be hiked by 2.3% from January 2017. Staggeringly twice as much as the annual rise allowed by the government these last few years. Have the trains got faster, seats easier to find, more punctual? Travellers would probably say no. But hard-pressed rail users can make savings. First book in advance. Even a day before will beat walk-on fares. Why it's because other web sites don't offer split ticketing cheaper fares.

Fortunately, ‘split-ticket' savings can be found on 71% of journeys which provide an average additional savings of £26.00. This is a journey with stops where cheaper legs can be split, rather than the one expensive, A to B fare. Only a couple of extra tickets to carry, but more money to keep in your pocket. They can be found on independent online sites like www.trainoffers.co.uk or www.trainsplit.com.

These tickets are legal and can be picked up at a station office, platform machine, or sent to you. Combine these with a Railcard, like a Family, Student, Senior, or Services, and more savings can be found on fares. Beat unfair fare hikes and make this your 2017 resolution to save.
