Launched on 1 Decemberfollowing a successful trial, MyCarCheck.com's Vehicle Factsheet provides used car, van and motorbike buyers with vital information completely free.

As well as basic make and model details (year of manufacture, engine size, fuel type etc), it features previously charged-for data such as valuations (including retail, private sale, trade-in and auction values), MOT history (including advisory items), mileage and tax status.

A short video on My Car Check's Youtube channel shows how it takes less than 45 seconds to discover that a silver, petrol-engined 2010 VW Polo sailed through its last MOT with 32,400 miles on the clock, giving it a forecourt value of £3,320 and a private sale value of £3,130. Head ofMyCarCheck.com, Roger Powell, said:"Our new Vehicle Factsheet makes moredata available completely free of charge, eitheronline or via the app. We'll also email you a direct link to your report for ease of reference. It provides used car buyers with everything they need to narrow their search, with the recommendation they carry out a comprehensive check - including write-off, finance and stolen data - before actually buying.

"The mileage data can be crosschecked against the clock, while the valuations will confirm if the sticker price is in the right ball park. The MOT advisory notices are also very useful as they show what repair work will likely need doing soon - an expensive item might well be a deal-breaker, or provide grounds to push for a reduction. Feedback from our testing was hugely positive - all this data in one place, for free - we see it as a real landmark for the provenance check industry."

With information from the police, DVLA, insurers and finance houses, My Car Check holds comprehensive data on every vehicle on UK roads - things that buyers should be aware of before making an offer.

CDL Vehicle Information Services, which owns My Car Check, performs over a million look-ups a day for companies including AutoExpress, CompareTheMarket, Go-Compare, Moneysupermarket, Swiftcover, Tesco and WhatCar?.
