AsQ the app how to save yourself from the stresses of Christmas

The team behind new mobile app, AsQ, understand the pains involved with Christmas shopping and organising festive gatherings so they've decided to put together some handy tips to make it easier for Britons to actually enjoy the holiday season this year.

AsQ is a mobile app designed to make light work of sourcing local trades people and services. Founders Irfan and Imran Arif, have compiled a list of their five top tips for gaining control of the festive season below:

  1. Take a fresh outlook

We all have that one Christmas task that drives us crazy, whether it be writing cards or wrapping gifts. Take a fresh approach to tackling the mundane and consider swapping ‘Christmas chores' with someone else in your household, or outsource them completely by employing someone to do them for you, like a gift-wrapping service for example.

  1. Understand your limits

Don't put pressure on yourself to go bigger and better year on year. Take time to enjoy the company of your loved ones and don't sweat the small stuff.

  1. Discard your shopping list

Some people like to be regimented when it comes to Christmas shopping and have a clear list of gifts to buy. Delivery times, out of stock items and hard to find goods can make a shopping list one of the season's most stressful things though. Surely it's far better to gift something from the heart and save yourself the pressure of committing to certain items?

  1. Smell some lemons

Yes that's right - according to researchers at Ohio State University, lemon scents instantly boost your mood, so go sniff some citrus fruit if you find yourself in need of a pick me up.

  1. Make use of technology

Use technology to make your life easier. For example, search for local crafts people or personal shoppers in your area through an app like AsQ and shave hours off hunting for high-street gifts in the cold winter weather. Handmade gifts always go down well, so why not look for a local engraver, carpenter or upcycler on the app and set your own budget for them to work to? Can't deal with shopping and thinking of gift ideas yourself? Then search for a personal shopper and give them a budget to work to. You'll be sticking your feet up and enjoying a mulled wine in no time, knowing that everything is taken care of.

Imran Arif, co-director of AsQ said, "The festive season should really be about enjoying the company of family and friends however, it's now harder than ever to escape the chore that is Christmas shopping, and all of the stress that goes with it. ‘Out of the norm' anxieties come into play at this time of year; who has the children whilst you go out and buy the presents to send to Santa Claus? What is the best time to go so that you can avoid the mad rush of overzealous shoppers on your local highstreets? What was the name of that doll that was on little Isabella's wish list? What about great uncle Charles who hasn't visited for the whole year, but is coming over for Christmas dinner so he isn't alone? You can't possibly buy him socks for the 7th year running. It's a stressful game that we all get stuck playing over in our heads every year, however there ARE solutions out there to make your life so much easier and we hope our tips go some way to relive some of the seasons stresses."

Irfan Arif, co-director of AsQ concluded, "From florists to photographers, personal shoppers to tour guides - the team here at AsQ believe that Christmas shopping can be simple. With local vendors rolling out offers at this time of year, it's especially important to get exactly what you are asking for. If you are struggling to find the help you need, just ‘AsQ the app'!

How AsQ app works:

  1. Giving people the ability to search for a service or trade

  2. Selecting the size of the search area

  3. Selecting a service category

  4. The refined search perimeters are sent to all of the service providers signed up to the app within the users selected radius

AsQ app gives its user autonomy to choose who they want to go with - many of AsQ's competitors use a ‘middle man' who chooses the service provider for the user. AsQ puts its user in direct contact with those bidding for the work. Good news for small businesses, as they can reach out to new clients and expand their customer base.
