AsQ the app how to plan the perfect office Christmas party

The team behind new mobile app, AsQ, understand the pains involved with organising the office Christmas party, so they've decided to put together some handy tips to make it easier for Brits to actually enjoy the holiday celebrations with their colleagues this year.

AsQ is a mobile app designed to make light work of sourcing local trades people and services. Founders Irfan and Imran Arif, have compiled a list of their eight top tips for gaining control of organising the perfect office Christmas party below:

1. Speak to your colleagues

Find out what it is that your staff or colleagues are most interested in. Is it a nice meal? An experience perhaps? Maybe even just a couple of hours in the pub. You may be surprised by their answers! If no one can agree on one common thing, try and find a middle point that everyone can enjoy.

2. Book the venue...ASAP

All of the ‘best' venues are snapped up fast at this time of year. Whether you decide on the friendly local or that swanky wine bar in town - get a date set with them as soon as you can!

3. Don't be afraid to keep it ‘low key'

There's always one firecracker in the office who would blow the entire budget for 2017 and beyond on booking a flight to the moon and back if they could. Remember that each person has their own budget limit. If you are going out somewhere fancy, see if they do simple food and drinks packages, or settle for a fish and chip supper at the office before heading out for a pint or two.

4. Step away from the office

Your staff/colleagues will likely spend most of their time inside the confines of the office - they aren't likely to want to party there either. Also remember that there will be some serious cleaning up to do, and the likelihood of damaged company property will go up ten-fold.

5. Avoid a boozy business catastrophy

Try your best not to plan the office Christmas party on a night before people have to be in work. It's damaging to morale to have your sad, hungover staff in the office wishing they were somewhere else. It can also be potentially damaging to the business, as customer service levels will be impacted and the likelihood of all of your staff ‘pulling a sicky' becomes a reality.

6. Think of a theme

Do your staff/colleagues wear a strict uniform or dress code? Make your theme particularly informal. Think along the lines of ‘cheesy Christmas jumpers'. On the other hand, if you have a relaxed dress code, go fancy with your theme - the staff will love having the chance to get their gladrags on!

7. Remember who is paying

Some companies choose to ask for their staff to pay for their own Christmas party attendance. However, more often than not, a large chunk of the event, if not all of it, will be being provided by the boss. If you work for a small business, remember that they will be there to enjoy themselves too. Don't go overboard and use more than needed - Christmas can be tight on finances for them too.

8. Enjoy it

You have put in the hard work to make sure everyone is happy, now it's time for you to get involved. Make sure you let your hair down with the rest of your colleagues, and celebrate the year that has passed.

Imran Arif, co-director of AsQ said, "The festive season should really be about enjoying the company of family and friends however, it's now harder than ever to escape the ‘dreaded office Christmas party' and all of the stress (and embarrassment) that goes with it. It's a stressful game that we all get stuck playing over in our heads every year, however there ARE solutions out there to make your life so much easier and we hope our tips go some way to relive some of the seasons stresses, at least for those of you who are planning the parties this year!"

Irfan Arif, co-director of AsQ concluded, "From venue decorators to photographers, event planners to magicians - the team here at AsQ believe that planning your office Christmas party can be simple. With local vendors rolling out some very competitive offers at this time of year, it's especially important to get exactly what you are asking for. If you are struggling to find the help you need, just ‘AsQ the app'!

How AsQ app works:

1. Giving people the ability to search for a service or trade

2. Selecting the size of the search area

3. Selecting a service category

4. The refined search perimeters are sent to all of the service providers signed up to the app within the users selected radius

AsQ app gives its user autonomy to choose who they want to go with - many of AsQ's competitors use a ‘middle man' who chooses the service provider for the user. AsQ puts its user in direct contact with those bidding for the work. Good news for small businesses, as they can reach out to new clients and expand their customer base.
