Symondsbury Kitchen wins Silver Award for food that's almost "too good to eat"

One of the best kept secrets in Dorset, Symondsbury Kitchen near Bridport recently walked away with the Silver Award for Best Café and Tearoom of the Year at the 2016 Dorset Tourism Awards. The previous year the Kitchen had been awarded a Bronze Award and now has its sights set firmly on securing the Gold in next year's awards.

During the winter months wood burners provide extra warmth and a large sunny terrace provides guests with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the weather in all seasons.

Open every day, the café serves breakfast, lunch and tea. It is also open for dinner every Thursday and Friday evening and is the perfect venue for a cosy romantic meal, a family get together or a celebration with friends.

The menu is varied and includes gluten free and vegetarian options as well as daily specials including homemade cakes and scones, using seasonal ingredients. Most of the food is locally sourced and the Estate vegetable garden provides herbs, salads & vegetables throughout the year.

Business Development Manager Wendy Botwright commented, "We are delighted to have been recognised in these prestigious awards. At Symondsbury Kitchen we select our menu carefully as our ethos is to provide good, honest, seasonal food using locally sourced ingredients.

"We are very lucky to have a large vegetable garden which provides us with vegetables, salad leaves, herbs and edible flowers during summer months. Game such as venison, rabbit, pheasant or pigeon is provided by the Estate when in season and we buy some of our pork from the Colmers Herd, which lives just beneath the hill!

"We make all our own jam, jellies, marmalade and chutneys and are very proud that we recently won a Taste of the West Gold Award for our Spiced Orange and Beetroot Chutney and a Silver Award for our Seville Orange Marmalade. All these products are available to buy in our shop, Symondsbury Store. "

The café is now taking bookings for Christmas and has an excellent two course menu for £20 and a three course for £25.
