Mitcham's Elbrook Gala Dinner raises £26,000 for the British Asian Trust

Last week, Mitcham's award winning restaurant Chak 89 hosted its annual ‘invite only' Elbrook Charity Gala Ball to help raise funds for the British Asian Trust. The event, which took place on the 27th October, was headlined by James Arthur ahead of his much anticipated album launch the following day and raised an impressive £26,000 for the charity.

The star studded evening, hosted by serial entrepreneur Frank Khalid (owner of Elbrook Cash and Carry, Chak 89 and West London Film Studios), saw the likes of: Chart topper James Arthur, M People's Heather Small, TOWIE's Chloe Sims, Frankie Essex and Ferne McCann, Kerry Katona and her partner George Kay, Calum Best, Big Brother favourite Pete Bennett, X Factors Stevi Ritchie, and BAFTA award winner Chanel Cresswell in attendance.

The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by HRH the Prince of Wales and a group of visionary business leaders to help tackle widespread poverty and hardship in South Asia; home to 50% of the world's poorest people. The work of the British Asian Trust has already helped more than three million lives across India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Through the British Asian Trust, supporters can turn their values and compassion into action via innovations such as impact investments and social enterprises.

Frank Khalid said, "The Elbrook Charity Gala Ball was an amazing evening and we are honoured by the incredible feedback we have had from our attendees! In total, we raised £26,000 for the British Asian Trust, and are really pleased that the event went so well. It's with a full heart that we say thank you to all of our guests and suppliers - without you we wouldn't have been able to raise so much. We also had an incredible amount of support from the celebrity guests who attended, and hope that they will be joining us at our next event in 2017!"

Chak 89, one of the South's most prestigious Indian banqueting suites, are no strangers to the world of celebrity, and often have guests such as Charlie Sheen, Danny Dyer, Aaron Paul, Lindsay Lohan, and John Terry dine at their establishment. At last year's event, guests featured Katie Price, TOWIE's Lydia Bright and James Argent, Elarica Gallacher, Eddie Kadi and US rap superstar Eve graced the evening's guest list, whilst Labrinth and Emeli Sande headlined the night's entertainment.

James Arthur, the album chart topper who headlined this years event said, "I'm delighted to be playing a couple of songs at the Elbrook Charity Gala Dinner this evening in support of such a great cause!"

Hundreds of invited guests enjoyed performances from James Arthur and M people, and all got their chance to mingle with the stars who attended. The funds raised from the event will be donated to the British Asian Trust's ‘Give a Girl a Future' appeal, through which the Trust aims to transform the lives of 100,000 girls, women and their families in South Asia. Every £1 donated to the appeal will be matched by the UK Government.

With its 7th event under its belt, the Elbrook Charity Gala Dinner is getting bigger and better every year, with celebrities from across the globe travelling to Mitcham to support the different charities that are chosen each year. In total, the events have raised over £250,000 for numerous charities, and hope that next year's event will be bigger and better than ever before.
