PRESS RELEASE

Temporary tunnel ensures it'll be all fright on the night for Thorpe Park

Temporary building specialist Spaciotempo is to ensure Thorpe Park's popular Halloween Fright Nights will be extra spooktacular this year, providing a 100 metre long temporary tunnel for the park's newest attraction, Platform 15.

Fright Nights have been a regular fixture at Thorpe Park for the last fifteen years, and is now one of the UK's largest and most popular scare attractions. To mark the attraction's fifteenth anniversary, Thorpe Park wanted to make this year's Halloween event frighteningly good. As a result, the Fright Nights will include Platform 15, which is the longest maze Thorpe Park have ever produced at more than 400 metres long, and which follows the route through an abandoned part of the park.

The new attraction, which will be a feature at the park for two months, has been built to withstand an estimated 600 guests an hour. Spaciotempo's expertise in being able to install and dismantle the tunnel quickly helped it win the contract.

Thorpe Park explored a number of options available to them including poly tunnels and marquee awnings, but they quickly realised that Spaciotempo's solution was the only option which matched its full requirements. Spaciotempo's offering ensured the company was provided with a cost effective, versatile and sturdy structure, with the tunnel fully retractable and blacked out inside to enhance the fear experience for customers of claustrophobia and darkness.

Speaking about the collaboration with Spaciotempo, Entertainments Technical Manager, Jonny Burns commented,"Spaciotempo were fantastic from start to finish, working with us to establish exactly what was required and ensuring that all drawings and specifications were to our needs. Their team visited us twice to ensure that our requirements were met and that their product would be fit for purpose. The delivery and installation was quick, easy and very professional and Spaciotempo left us with a fantastic tunnel that many of our guests are very hesitant and nervous to enter. Exactly the result we wanted to achieve!"

Speaking about the project, Managing Director of Spaciotempo, Scott Jameson commented, "Our work with Thorpe Park, demonstrates perfectly the versatility of our solutions across a range of industries including the leisure industry. From temporary buildings to tunnels and extensions, whatever the requirements of individual businesses, our highly trained technical team has the ability to design and install a solution to suit, meaning we can offer a truly bespoke service, regardless of the challenge."
