In the run up to Christmas, West Cornwall painter Jean Foulds presents a second exhibition of works which respond to the devastating effect of recent storms on Penzance's historic Jubilee Pool, and the subsequent renovation of one of the country's most iconic architectural gems.

Entitled Storm, this exhibition is on show from 7^th November to 5^th December at Lelant's Scarlet Wines & The Vineyard Table, a venue whose newly opened exhibition space offers both aspiring and established local artists the opportunity to showcase new work.

In a palette of deep ocean colours, Jean's powerfully composed works make use of the fluid, energetic nature of line to describe the spectacular force of Cornwall's ocean in winter, and the contrastingly solid, structural beauty of the Jubilee Pool. Strong geometric forms reference not only the distinctive construction of Penzance's Art-Deco masterpiece, but also the Modernist tradition of 20^th Century West Cornwall painting. Created by one of the area's rising abstract painters, an artist whose work is strongly associated with our uniquely dynamic coastal landscape, this is a locally relevant, must-see collection which captures a moment in time in the art and architectural history of West Cornwall.
