UK cutter manufacturer Blackman & White shortlisted for Amazon Growing Business Awards 2016

UK manufacturer Blackman & White has been shortlisted in the Export Champion of the Year category of the prestigious Amazon Growing Business Awards 2016.

The company, which designs and builds specialist cutting machines, sells to and works in partnership with businesses across the world.

In its most recent international success, Blackman & White took home the 2016 SGIA Product of the Year Award for Finishing-Routers/Cutters, for the VersaTech2 ‘All in One' cutter developed through its partnership with US-based MCTdigital.

Blackman & White MD Alex White said: "We've been at the forefront of technology for more than 45 years and during that time we've supplied customers across the globe with our unique products and services.

"By listening to customers and partners we develop solutions that meet individual needs and in some cases move them from custom-design into full production where the new technology is applicable across the board.

"Obviously Brexit is a top issue on the minds of anyone who either exports or imports goods at the moment, and while the process of leaving the EU will undoubtedly create some challenges we also need to be open to the possibilities and opportunities it will offer.

"We're absolutely delighted to be on the shortlist of Export Champions - we actually export around half of our machines so it's a very important and massive growth area for us.

"We find that the reputation of British manufacturing and the standards people have come to expect from us as a company really help us sell our goods overseas."

The Blackman & White range includes the custom Orion, Genesis and MasterCut as well as the standard VersaTech and VersaTech2 flatbed cutters. Customers can use them to cut materials ranging from the softest fabric or leather rolled materials to rigid materials such as acrylic and high-strength Kevlar. The range is also designed to help production teams work faster, more accurately and reduce waste.

They are sold across a whole range of industries including Sign, Display, Graphics, Marine and Composites.

Since their launch in 1999, the Amazon Growing Business Awards have celebrated exceptional businesses and outstanding entrepreneurs. Previous winners include Innocent Drinks, Betfair, Lovefilm and Fever-Tree, while VIP guests to have graced the ceremony include Bill Gates, Gordon Brown and Stelios Haji-Ioannou.
