This Autumn, New Craftsman brings together the work of two of Cornwall's most recognizable artists, each known for their highly distinctive stylization of the figurative. Painter Shirley Foote's softly abstracted works are informed by both the rural and urban landscape and are well known for their broad areas of muted colour and sparing yet bright flashes of detail. Uplifting in colour and soothing in composition, these paintings are an optimistic take on the world around us.

Inspired by the natural world, and in particular a childhood spent amongst horses and dogs, Stephanie Cunningham's diminutive ceramic sculptures capture the very essence of animal form. Her highly stylised, reductive interpretations of living creatures display a simplicity and purity of form which emphasizes the power, elegance, grace, stillness and vital energy of our beloved animal friends, and expresses the timeless and wholly affectionate relationship we have with them.
