8 August 2016

Your Health Voice prizewinner announced.

Northallerton resident Helen Goodwin has been announced as the winner of a prize draw held as part of the recent NHS Hambleton Richmondshire and Whitby CCG (HRW CCG) and Heartbeat Alliance (HBA) Your Health Voice campaign.

The draw offered the chance to win a tablet device, donated by a local business, to people taking the Your Health Voice campaign challenge and survey.

Helen, who moved back to Northallerton in June this year, is a former RAF Support Officer. She received the Your Health Voice magazine that was mailed to all households in the CCG area and entered the draw after filling in the survey on the campaign website.

Iain Murray, Managing Director, Heartbeat Alliance said:
"Your Health Voice asks patients for their views and plays an important part in educating people about how to access the best care for their condition or ailment. The Your Health Voice survey has been successful in raising awareness of all the options locally and we hope the campaign will help improve patients' understanding of when they need to see their GP and when they can safely rely on other services and remedies."

As a result of the campaign, Helen is not only the owner of a new tablet, she has joined the CCG's Health Engagement Network so that she can contribute to future surveys and focus groups.

Presenting Helen with her prize, Gill Collinson, Chief Nurse, HRW CCG said:

"It is vitally important that we know the views of our patient population when we design our future services. One size does not fit all, and our area has some specific needs and challenges. We need to know that the services we offer will benefit our patients, giving them the right care in the right place at the right time. It was a pleasure meeting Helen and we are pleased that she has joined our Health Engagement Network."

The competition has now closed, but residents of Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby can still take part in the online survey and read seasonal health advice at www.yourhealthvoice.org.

Notes to editors:

Based in Northallerton, NHS HRW CCG is responsible for the planning and purchasing of the majority of health services across the area, including hospital care, mental health and community services.

Every year, the CCG receives an allocation of money from NHS England to spend on health services for the people living in the area. This year's funding of £182 million is £7.7million short of what is needed to deliver the national "must-dos" as well as the CCG's local priorities of buying high quality, safe patient care, making our health care system as efficient as possible and investing in more services at the GP practice and community level, to bring healthcare closer to home.

The CCG would like to know how local people think their money should be spent and what services, including extended opening hours at GP surgeries, patients want to access. To collect as many opinions as possible, the CCG launched "Your Health Voice", an ambitious engagement programme that reaches every household, school and GP surgery in the region.

Supported by a dedicated websitewww.yourhealthvoice.orgthe campaign collected responses to its survey - and offered the opportunity to win a tablet device in a free prize draw. Everyone who submitted a completed survey via the website was entered into the draw, which took place at HRW CCG offices in Northallerton on Friday 29 July 2016.
