Popular Birmingham pub hosts charity day for The Queen Alexandra College

On Saturday the 2ndJuly The King's Head in Harborne held their biggest charity event yet, to raise funds for the Queen Alexandra College; a national college for people with disabilities. The venue's ‘Summer Social' was a great success and saw The King's Head's charitable donations top £1,000 so far this year.

The Queen Alexandra College, based in Birmingham, creates challenging learning opportunities for people with visual impairment and other disabilities in order to release their potential to work and live independently. During their time at the Queen Alexandra College, learners are encouraged to develop their academic and social skills, make new friends and enjoy being independent and responsible for their own decisions. During the family event, The King's Head team were able to spread the word about the vital work that the Queen Alexandra College do in the local area.

Jo Scone, marketing manager for The King's Head said, "Our ‘Summer Social' charity event proved to be a huge success - the response we received from locals was astonishing. We are proud to have had the opportunity to raise some money for such an amazing cause and it was lovely to see our community get together on such a beautiful day to actively raise much needed funds for a local institution, which plays such a huge part in helping the local community."
 
 

The King's Head in Harborne have pledged that during the course of 2016 they will help as many local charities as they can, by holding events and themed evenings at their historic venue every month. The King's Head have so far held fundraisers for: The Birmingham Dog's Home, The Warley Woods, Birmingham St. Mary's Hospice and St Albans Community Association.

Sarah Caldwell, fundraising and grants manager at the Queen Alexandra College said, "It's been great working with The King's Head and helping to raise awareness of the QAC within the local community. The team have been really supportive with both events and we hope to work with them in the future, raising more support for us!"
