Stewart Garden to play central role at Settle Flowerpot Festival 2016

Stewart Garden is playing a major supportive role in this year’s Settle Flowerpot Festival taking place in the Yorkshire town throughout July and August.

The company is installing a giant flowerpot man called Stewart on Castleberg Crag, a limestone cliff that overlooks Settle. Stewart will be visible from the town as he ‘climbs’ the crag.

Stewart Garden is also donating hundreds of planters, including selected products from its Palladian and Cilindro ranges. They’ll feature prominently in flowerpot displays adorning the town during the event.

The official opening of the 2016 Festival is on Sunday 3 July at the Falcon Manor's Flowerpot Festival Family Fun Day. Flowerpot themed events such as a fun run, stalls, quizzes and much more besides will add to the fun for all the family.

A beer festival will also coincide with the event. This will take place at Victoria Hall from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 July and feature 18 ales from across the country, real cider, wine, soft drinks and food.

The Vibrant Settle Community Partnership, the voluntary organisation that organises the Festival, expects the event to attract several thousand visitors to the town – including many people who wouldn’t otherwise come to Settle. The partnership will use money raised by the Festival to fund events and initiatives that promote the town and surrounding area.

The Flowerpot Festival will conclude with the Settle Folk Gathering, which this year runs from Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 September. The gathering comprises concerts, workshops and sessions in and around Settle.

Looking ahead to the Settle Flowerpot Festival, Andy Burns, managing director of Stewart, said: “For two months, the beautiful town of Settle will be a celebration of colour, fun and activity. There’ll be something for everyone to enjoy, so we – and our intrepid climber, Stewart – are delighted to playing our part and getting involved in this fantastic event.”

Stewart Garden’s grow your own products, pots, watering equipment, propagators and garden accessories are available in over 1,600 outlets across the UK and Eire. These include DIY outlets such as B&Q, Homebase and Wilko and garden centres such as Dobbies and Klondyke/Strikes, Wyevale and over 600 independent garden centres.
