Alternative flooring specialists hit the right note for indie band

WowGrass's felt-backed real grass made its official music video debut after an indie band featured the company's alternative flooring product in its newest video.

The living, soil-free grass, chosen for its authentic look and ability to be cut to size, was put to unique use for Leeds indie band The Marsicans' music video and features on a rotating stage beneath a bath tub and a glass mirror ball.

York business Orillo Productions shot the video for the band and called on WowGrass to help with the finishing touches for the set design.

WowGrass Development Manager Caroline Littler said: "We were only too pleased to supply Orillo Productions with Wow Grass for this music video.

"It's fantastic that a music band and living grass have come together for a collaboration like this! It's great to see the grass used in innovative ways, and we are continually pleased by the number of uses people dream up for this flexible, alternative surface."

The Marsicans' new single, ‘Swimming' was released on 22nd April and the video is viewable online via the band's website and across its social media channels.

Orillo Producer, Robert Dickinson said everyone from the band to the crew was blown away by the effect of the WowGrass.

"This video wasn't created on a high budget so to have something like this grass gives it the extra wow factor. There aren't many videos that have had real grass on the stage, and the band loved it.

"We needed a four metre diameter circle, and at quite short notice, so it was fantastic that the WowGrass team were so flexible and were able to cut the piece exactly to the size we required - we always enjoy working with Caroline and the team."

Orillo specialise in making online viral content for brands. The production company has produced videos for Jack Wills and Dulux and has organised pop-up cinema events.

WowGrass first provided their living grass for Orillo's pop-up cinema night in 2012.

Wow Grass was developed as a versatile alternative flooring product that is soil-free, ideal for indoor and outdoor events, exhibitions and filming. It is a real grass that is grown onto a felt mat made from recycled British textiles eliminating the potential problem of mess from soil which arises from using traditional turf.
