Chak 89 Restaurant nominated for 2016 Tiffin Cup by Mitcham MP

Surrey based restaurant, Chak 89, has been nominated for the Tiffin Cup by Mitcham and Morden MP, Siobhan McDonagh. The Tiffin Cup is a competition to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. The finals will be held on Tuesday 12th July 2016 at the House of Commons and ends with a cook-off to select the winner.

The Tiffin Cup is an exclusive national award, which is headed by MP Keith Vaz. The nominees include other restaurants from up and down the UK, which have also been nominated by their local MP's. In 2015, 121 restaurants were nominated from across the UK, and this year is set to be another hot contest.

Frank Khalid, Director of Chak 89 said, "We are very proud to have been nominated by Siobhan McDonagh, who often dines at Chak 89 and has blessed us with her company on several occasions. To be judged by MP's from across the UK is a very exciting opportunity for us, and the fact it is a national award makes it even more challenging. We are looking forward to seeing what's to come for us this year - this is the start of bigger and better things!"

Chak 89, one of the South's most prestigious Indian banqueting suites, are no strangers to the world of celebrity, and often host guests such as Danny Dyer, Aaron Paul, Lindsay Lohan, Emeli Sande, John Terry. The team at Chak 89 are hoping that this award will bring extra clout to their already popular venue.

Mitcham and Morden MP, Siobhan McDonagh recently held the local Labour Party Dinner at Chak 89 with the support of ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair. The dinner, attended by high dignitaries and Government officials, was said to be a semi-formal event, where Tony Blair himself presented Chak89 Director Frank Khalid, with a signed gift for his involvement in organising the evening.
