Over 100 schools to participate in 2016 Stewart Garden Schools Campaign as the scheme grows nationwide

For the fourth year running, Stewart Garden is preparing to distribute grow your own gardening kits to over 100 primary schools across the county as part of the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign 2016.

Participating schools across the UK will receive the kits, which will equip them to start growing their own fruit and vegetables. The extensive kit includes all the containers you need to start growing. Flower pots, propagators, growing troughs as well as watering can all feature in the kit. An informative booklet also comes with the kits to help to get started and give tips.

The Stewart Garden Schools Campaign 2016 is open to school pupils aged 6-11 years and challenges schools to be creative with Stewart Garden products. The winning school will receive£1,000 to spend at its local garden centre. Three runners up will each receive £100.

Schools already confirmed for participation in the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign 2016 include first time entrants, from Manley Park Primary School in Manchester to Greenmount Primary School on the Isle of Wight. After experiencing the benefits from previous campaigns, Holmes Chapel Primary School in Warwickshire and The Topsham School in Kent are giving the challenge another go.

Almost 350schools across the UK have participated in the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign since 2012. In 2015, Warren Road Primary School impressed the judges with the way the programme was incorporated into the curriculum and how Stewart Garden products were used.

Looking forward to this year’s campaign, Gavin Wray, channel manager at Stewart Garden said: “It’s always astonishing to see the new ways that the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign captures the creativity and imagination in school children. More schools than ever before are taking part in 2016 and we’re excited to see what the students will do this year.”
