29/06/20 - Schools reopened in Cardiff today
Cardiff saw 6,600 children and young people returning to the classroom today, as the city's schools reopened to provide the ‘check in, catch up, prepare' approach announced by Welsh Government on the 3rd June.
A Virtual Transition Project which helps children who are leaving primary school prepare for starting secondary school in September, is underway.

17/04/20 - COVID-19; Changes to Free School Meals
Families with children eligible for Free School Meals will now be able to buy food using funds deposited directly into their bank account, whilst schools are closed due to COVID-19. This will provide parents with more flexibility on where they can shop
Today, Cardiff Council has again sent Free School Meal vouchers in the post to all eligible families, providing funds for a further two weeks of provision. Each voucher has a value of £40, per child.
The Free School Meal provision will be changing to a voucher scheme from Monday 6, April and will be extended to cover what would have been the two week school Easter holiday period.
Childcare provision for Cardiff's key workers doing essential work through the COVID-19 outbreak is changing to a hub-based system from Monday 30, March.
Cardiff Council has established a dedicated team to support schools in providing a host of digital materials and innovative online schemes so that curriculum can continue to be delivered during school closures caused by COVID-19.
