Calling all young content creators in Cardiff! The Cardiff Youth Service digital team is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for young people aged 11-17 to participate in a digital summer camp for the second year running.
The exciting scheme will run for seven days over a two-week period during the summer break and offer an immersive experience in digital storytelling and video production. Participants will work in small groups to develop compelling stories, record and edit their own videos, and showcase their work at a premiere show on the final day.
Programme Highlights:
Youth workers from Cardiff Youth Service, along with Doug Green, an American broadcaster with over 30 years of experience, will lead the programme. The partnership between Doug and the Cardiff Youth Service has already resulted in an international exchange, with young creators from Cardiff visiting California and the Butetown Buzz winning an Outstanding Broadcasting Award at the prestigious STN contest.
Eight student volunteers from Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, California, will join the camp as participants and mentors. These award-winning filmmakers and broadcasters will share their expertise in all aspects of moviemaking, including filming, editing, special effects, and professional video production for YouTube and social media. They are also excited to learn about Welsh culture and share insights about American culture.
The camp is supported by Cardiff and Vale College, with sessions taking place at their city centre campus on Dumballs Road.
