It's time to nominate in the first ever Child Friendly Cardiff awards

The first Child Friendly Cardiff Awards will take place this July to celebrate and recognise children, young people and organisations that have championed children's rights in their community, every-day life and workplace.

Organised by Child Friendly Cardiff, members of the public can nominate people and organisations before Monday 12th June, with the winners being notified by Monday 3rd July and the winners being presented with their award at a ‘Rights Fest' event on Tuesday 11th July at Cardiff City Stadium.

Child Friendly Cardiff has been supporting the Council in embedding children's rights into its policies and strategies, and delivering projects aimed at upholding rights and celebrating children and young people since the launch of the Child Friendly Cardiff Strategy in 2018, which set out the ambition to be recognised as a Child Friendly City. This has led to numerous schools officially putting child rights into practice, and a host of programmes with partners providing positive experiences and activities to support mental health and encourage learning and development.

Nominations for the awards can be made for multiple categories, but the nominee can win a maximum of one award.

The categories are:

• Young Achiever of the Year
• Junior Young Achiever of the Year
• Child Friendly Cardiff Partner of the Year
• Junior Community Champion of the Year
• Rights and Social Action Project of the Year
• Arts, Culture and Digital Media Award of the Year

One Planet Cardiff Summit to help Cardiff accelerate transition to net-zero

Businesses and third-sector organisations from across Cardiff are being brought together for a ‘One Planet Cardiff Summit' to help accelerate the city's journey to a net-zero future.

The summit on June 13th, is hosted by Cardiff Council, and will feature a range of talks, debates, panel discussions, collaborative workshops, and networking opportunities, all designed to inspire and inform a collective effort to drive the city towards a carbon neutral future.

The summit is free to attend for Cardiff-based businesses and organisations,  but advance registration is required.

Speakers at the Summit, which takes place at Techniquest in Cardiff Bay, from 9am-1pm, include:

• Cardiff Youth Council and Cllr Wild - Setting the vision for Cardiff
• Darren Stewart, Commercial Director for Euroclad - Why & how we are planning for a low carbon future.
• Jarrad Morris, local business maker and entrepreneur- New services and opportunities.
• Clare Sain-ley-Berry, Director at Cynnal Cymru - Sustain Wales - "For the journey - Support and guidance"

Views sought on Cardiff Council's support for Unpaid Carers

We're working with Carers Wales to review help for unpaid carers and we'd like your views on Cardiff Council's support.

We're holding the following focus groups and would like to invite unpaid carers to join us and share your feedback:
