Keep it clean: Nappies, paint and duvets placed in garden waste recycling in error

A huge thank you to our waste collection crews who have picked up over 434 tonnes of green garden waste so far this month.

Our fortnightly green garden waste collections returned to a normal service on Monday 6thJuly since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic in March.

However, our collection crews are reporting nappies, paint, duvets, tyres, pillows and glass thrown out with the usual grass cuttings.

The items most commonly placed in green garden waste in error are:

 

  • Glass- this should be placed in your green recycling bags

 

  • Green recycling bags- should be on the kerbside for collection not in the green garden waste bin

 

  • Nappies- should be inhygiene collection(if you're signed up for this service) or with your general waste

 

  • Food Waste- put this in your kerbside caddy

 

  • Wood- should be taken to your recycling centre at Lamby Way or Bessemer Close.

 

  • Paint- should be taken to your recycling centre at Lamby Way or Bessemer Close.

 

  • Tyres -should be taken to Lamby Way.

 

  • Duvets, pillows, cushions-should be taken to your recycling centre at Lamby Way or Bessemer Close.

 

  • Toys and garden furniture -should placed in the Hard Plastic Skips at your local recycling centre at Lamby Way and Bessemer Close.

 

Bookings at our Recycling Centre's are limited to 12 visits per year, per household. You can only make 1 visit in a day.Book your visit to the Recycling Centre  here.

The only items that should be placed in your green garden waste are leaves, grass cuttings, plant / flower cuttings and small twigs / branches.
