How a range of services delivered by the Council's City Operations Directorate are being improved through the use of modern technologies will be reviewed by the Environmental Scrutiny Committee tomorrow (January 16, 2018). 

A commitment to offer a broader range of services via digital platforms was outlined in the "Delivering Capital Ambition" report which went to Cabinet last month. This scrutiny will review a range of services that are managed by the Council's City Operations Directorate. 

The "Delivering Capital Ambition" report illustrated how technology was transforming local public services and explained that increasingly, local authorities are seeking to: 

• Automate processes;

• Shift customer transactions and services into online channels of communication;

• Migrate council systems into cloud-based solutions 

Chair of the Environmental Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Ramesh Patel said: "Cardiff Council's City Operations Directorate has developed a range of digitalisation projects as part of a ‘Digital First' approach. These include a new bespoke parking App, an online parking payment system and Smart Sensors in over 3000 parking bays across the city. My Committee will assess the impact of these projects in terms of enhanced service provision for residents and also hear about some of the innovative work which is still at a development stage."
