More than seven tonnes of extra litter and debris were removed from three parts of Cardiff when 38 streets were given a deep clean.
The litter blitz in Cyncoed, Heath and Penylan was part of City of Cardiff Council’s Love Where You Live campaign which has seen more than 130 tonnes of extra rubbish removed from the capital’s streets - on top of normal cleansing operations - since the scheme began last autumn.
City of Cardiff Council works with community groups and Keep Wales Tidy to run the initiative which is designed to encourage a sense of pride in local areas.
As part of the latest clean-up, 432 of the 471 gullies in Cyncoed, Heath and Penylan were also cleansed, 14 pavement defects were fixed and 37 enforcement actions were taken.
Matt Wakelam, Operational Manager for Infrastructure and Operations at City of Cardiff Council, said: “The work being undertaken provides much needed support to cleansing our communities.
“This work is part of the Love Where You Live campaign and supports improvements across our city.”
He added: “But it’s a shame that there are still people out there who think it’s OK to litter. We will continue to hammer home the message that irresponsible disposal of waste is simply not acceptable.”
