Paper People Bradford

A new temporary exhibition launching at The Peace Museum on Thursday 12thJuly 2018

The Peace Museum is delighted to announce the launch of a new temporary exhibition opening at its premises in Piece Hall Yard. Paper People Bradford depicts the experience of working as an independent artist in the Calais Jungle from October 2015 - September 2016.

The exhibition at The Peace Museum hopes to give a background as to how and why the Paper People project came about and will include some of the artwork made by refugees in Calais.

Artist Suzanne Partridge said "I went to Calais believing that someone there would want to paint and if I could find that one person then I would be useful. What I found was a need for men and boys to make art on a scale that I'd never encountered before."

The Peace Museum is hosting a free, drop-in, open evening on Thursday 12th July from 5 pm - 7pm providing visitors with a first view of the new exhibition and the opportunity to meet and chat to the artist and staff. Refreshments available. Please note the museum is up some 60 steps with no lift.

Some of the artwork made in Calais has been developed further and will be presented as an installation in City Park on August 18th, 2018.
