Throughout August, New Craftsman Gallery St Ives presents an exhibition of new work by one of the UKs leading ceramicists. Matthew Chambers is an MA graduate of the Royal College of Art and was awarded the Ceramic Review Prize at Ceramic Art London in 2006. Since that time, his astonishingly complex structures, constructed on the wheel from individual layers of pre-coloured clay,  have succeeded in pushing the boundaries of contemporary craft, making him one of Europe's most talked about makers. This new collection looks back over his work of the last ten years, updating key forms and patterns from his unique portfolio in a variety of colours and structures, from the very simple to the highly complex, and combining traditional processes with the artist's passion for constructivist art.

Accompanying the show are new works by St Ives artist Emma Williams, whose background in printed textile design brings a contemporary edge to the classic genres of still life and landscape painting. The show runs parallel to the exhibition The Lie of The Land by Neil Davies, one of Cornwall's finest contemporary landscape painters, with an accompanying collection of work by leading British ceramicist Chris Keenan and jeweller Emily Nixon, all on show until 1st September.
