Brent Nurse wins Partnership Award

A shining star of a team that supports safe discharge from inpatient wards in Brent is celebrating after winning CNWL's Partnership Award at the Trust's Annual GemAward ceremony, which showcases the commitment and hard work of staff.

Nicholas Bygraves is Patient Flow Manager for the Brent Crisis Resolution and Brent Home Treatment Team - a critical role that supports the safe discharge from inpatient wards.

On Friday, during the event at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, he won the Partnership Award, which is presented to the member of staff who works closely with our many partners to make sure that our combined efforts are focussed on achieving the best possible outcomes for people.

Nominated by a colleague, his citation read: "In the time Nicolas has worked in the role, he has developed it by supporting people using the service to get the best possible care and support. His knowledge has enabled safe and supportive discharges of patients.

"Patients are always grateful for Nicholas' input especially those he helps to find their way through the complicated process of housing and homelessness.

"Nicholas continues to shine in this role, often going above and beyond what is required of him. He is instrumental in the effective and efficient management of beds, often coordinating assessments and interventions in the absence of others."

Nicholas said: "I'm truly humbled to have received this award and for the response I received on the night. I work hard for the benefit of patients so if this award means anything, it's that I've made a difference in their lives."

Finalists in the 11 award categories were nominated by their peers and patients for their outstanding work, their dedication to our Trust values and for constantly going above and beyond for their patients and colleagues.

You can read about all the nominees in our Annual Gems brochure.
