Krowji Christmas Open Studios 2015

Cornwall's largest creative hub will be opening its doors this Christmas for its annualOpen Studiosevent, on Friday 4thDecember until Sunday 6thDecember.

Krowji, based in Redruth, will be welcoming the public to explore the home of painters, ceramicists, jewellery makers, designers, textile artists, animators, costumers and more at this special event.

Running from 5pm-9pm on Friday 4thDecember, and 10am-4pm on Saturday 5thand Sunday 6thof December, the event promises to be a spectacle of local talent which the public can peruse at their leisure.

Milly Knight, Administrator and Marketing Co-ordinator for Krowji said:

"This event sees hundreds of visitors every year and is a popular celebration of Cornish arts and culture. It's the perfect opportunity for Christmas present shopping, as many studios will be running their galleries as a shop and visitors will have a chance browse, buy and see the creative spaces in which these artists work."

Milly added, "This family friendly event will offer a special festive themed trail for children, which has been created by theKrowjiartists. So this year is not to be missed!"

The Ingleheart Singers will start the celebrations at 5pm on Friday with complimentary mince pies and mulled wine served in the Melting Pot Café which will be open throughout the weekend.

There will also be a number of workshops for children and adults during the event.

Running through the Friday evening, Engine House VFX will be holding virtual reality demos where adults and children can create their own Google Cardboard and enter a new immersive world.

Funk Soul Mother will also be running a tote bag print workshop on Saturday morning, from 10am - 12.30pm.

On Saturday and Sunday, visitors will be able to try their hands at bookbinding with Bookshell Bindery at 11am and 2.30pm, or take part in an ‘elf' trail and children's lantern workshop between 11am and 3pm.

During the weekend visitors will also have the chance to see Yskynna aerial arts company demonstrating their impressive vertical dance work in Krowji's newly landscaped courtyard.

Milly continued: "This year is set to be even bigger than previous years, as the new Percy Williams Building is now open with an impressive 85% occupancy and many of the new tenants are taking part. This is a chance for the public to not only view and sample some of the best local talent and artwork, but to take a look around the fascinating home of the creative industry which lies right on their doorstep in Redruth."
