Materials handling specialist Briggs Equipment is helping to create special memories for children and young people with life-threatening illnesses by donating £20,000 to Make-A-Wish®UK.
One of the UK's leading children's charities, Make-A-Wish UK was set up in 1986 and aims to grant a thousand magical wishes each year to children and young people aged between three and 17 years.
It receives no government funding and relies on donations from the public and corporate sponsors to raise the £7million a year it takes to grant magical wishes.
Christine Allingham, Corporate Account Manager at Make-A-Wish UK, says: "Our aim is to enrich the lives of children and teenagers who are battling serious illnesses by giving them something to look forward to, along with welcome respite from the routine of hospitals and treatments.
"We're very grateful to Briggs Equipment for such a fantastic donation, which will make a real difference. Having a wish come true means the world to the children and not only gives families a chance to have fun together, but can also help to bring the children out of their shell."
A child might ask to be a fireman or a zookeeper for the day, to go on a shopping spree or to meet their hero sports personality or favourite singer. It costs around £4,000 to grant a wish, so Briggs Equipment's donation will help the charity grant a wish and create a special memory for five young people and their families.

Make-A-Wish
Please note that Make-A-Wish does not use phrases such as ‘terminally ill' in order to respect the sensitive nature of life-threatening conditions and what they mean to children and young people and their families. We would ask that this approach is followed and that the term ‘life-threate
ning conditions' is used in material for publication.
Make-A-Wish should be referred to as Make-A-Wish®UK in the first instance. Thereafter ‘Make-A-Wish' is suitable. We would ask that you try to keep ‘Make-A-Wish' on the same line.
Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986. Registered charity number: 295672/SC037479www.make-a-wish.org.uk
