Jubilee Court in Stafford has been rocking to sounds of the King after receiving a Vegas-style makeover.

The Independent Living scheme in Edison Road received a surprise visit from Elvis as part of a Viva Las Vegas themed party that also saw a dining room transformed into a mini casino.

Managed by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH), Jubilee Court is home to around 40 elderly SARH customers who require extra help with their day-to-day needs. Many of them joined staff in dressing up for the occasion, which was one of many events organised by SARH and its customers at Independent Living schemes across the area.

Elaine Tomlinson, SARH Co-ordinator at Jubilee Court, explained: "We regularly stage these types of event, and customers are actively involved in organising them, which ensures everyone has a fantastic time.

"Previously we've had Hawaiian parties and other themed parties, but this has topped them all thanks to a surprise visit from the King!"

One of the other guests joining in the fun on the day was SARH Chief Executive Karen Armitage, who said: "Our 19 Independent Living schemes across the area are home to a diverse range of people who enjoy being part of a secure community whilst having the independence and privacy of having their own front door.

"Social events such as this play an important role in helping to build a real community spirit, and it was great to see so many people getting into the spirit of the occasion."

Whilst Jubilee Court is primarily for older people who require additional care, other You First Independent Living homes are available in Stafford and surrounding areas for people seeking the reassurance of a secure community environment or simply wanting to downsize their home as they get older.
