Castle Brook Vineyard Wins Best Presented Wine in the English & Welsh Wine of the Year Competition.

Castle Brook Vineyard has won the Montagu Trophy for Best Presented Wine in the English & Welsh Wine of the Year Competition 2015, run by the United Kingdom Vineyards Association, for its Classic Cuvée 2009. The judges described the bottle as simple, classy, understated and eye-catching.

In addition, the wine was awarded a Silver Medal in the competition, which follows on from Castle Brook's recent Silver Medal win in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2015.

The competition results were announced today (30th June 2015), and the trophy will be awarded at the awards lunch at Vinters Hall in London on the 29thof July.

Carrying the ‘Chinn-Chinn' motif, the newly labelled Classic Cuvée is a traditionally styled Brut, which has been made using traditional Champagne grapes to create the finest English sparkling wine. The 2009 vintage has had a generous 4 ½ years of resting on its lees in secondary fermentation before disgorging in autumn 2014, and its release in early 2015.

Tasting Notes

Deliciously delicate, crisp palate with a hint of lemon blossom. Brioche and toasty yeast notes add complexity to the finish.

Since the release of the first vintage in 2006, the Castle Brook Classic Cuvée has picked up a gaggle of awards - including two silvers at the Decanter World Wine Awards. In 2014, it won a gold medal and was awarded Best Sparkling Wine, as well as overall Wine Of The Year, at the South West Vineyards association.

The wine is available to buy online atwww.castlebrookvineyard.co.uk, as well as in some independent stockists. RRP at £32 per bottle.

Notes to Editor

Castle Brook Vineyard is situated in the beautiful Wye Valley, an area well-regarded for its fruit and vegetable production. The vineyards were planted in 2004, on a south-facing slope in the rain shadow of the Black Mountains, but with plenty of warm westerly air.

The Chinn family, who produce the wine, are best-known for their Wye Valley Asparagus, and also produce rhubarb and blueberries under the Wye Valley Produce brand. As a fourth-generation family farm that has diversified into winemaking, Castle Brook Vineyard would make a good subject for editorial.
