So - just how much paint do I need?

Spring is the time of year that we usually start thinking about brightening up our homes and painting walls and furniture will be the first step.

Before your painting gets underway the one question that you have to ask is - Just how much paint do I need?

Firstly, what colour is the wall that you want to paint? It is important to consider which colours are easy to cover with another. For example, a white or light grey wall can easily be covered with a darker colour in perhaps one or two coats but it is more difficult to cover a dark blue wall with white paint.

Be aware that you may need to consider a primer or undercoat when changing from a strong colour. We've all been there - having to apply three or four coats to get the right coverage - and so this is where thinner, cheaper paints, become a false economy and where quality luxury paints like Pride & Joy come into their own.

Another point to consider when revamping your home is what it is that you are painting. Are you planning on upcycling that tired wooden cabinet or painting the walls in your lounge? You will need to consider the type of the paint that you choose to go for depending on your project. Choosing a paint that is specifically designed for the task at hand is essential. The Futura Aqua range from Pride & Joy consist of high-quality paints that are perfect for wood and metal and can often coat in just one application and the Biora range is perfect for walls and interiors.

The final consideration is the size of the object or space that you need to paint.

Our advice would be:
