Food Reaches for Stars

 

A Cornish hotel has been highly recognised for its food practices, above others in its area.

 

Carbis Bay Hotel & Estatehas been awarded two 5* ratings in the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, from Cornwall Council's Public Health and Protection Service, for their Sands Restaurant and Beach Club.

 

It is the only large hotel in the St Ives area to be awarded a 5* rating, following a visit from a food safety officer, who found Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate to have ‘very good' hygiene standards in both its kitchens.

 

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is of interest to diners, being an assessment of standards of hygiene.

 

Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate is thrilled to have been recognised for its high standards with Stephen Baker, owner of Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate saying:

 

"We strive for the highest standards across all of our offerings atCarbis Bay Hotel & Estateand receive very favourable comments from guests. To have been awarded 5* for our standards from The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme for both our kitchens is a testament to the team's hard work."

Malcolm Ball, Commercial Food and Safety Officer for Cornwall Council's Public Health and Business Support Service, was impressed with Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate saying:

 

"The Carbis Bay Hotel & Estatehave worked hard to achieve their 5* rating. Achieving 5* means the business has a very good hygiene standard reflecting how hygienically the food is prepared, cooked, cooled stored and if required reheated. The condition of the premises, cleanliness, layout, lighting and ventilation and how the business manages and records what it does to make food safe are also considered."

 

This achievement follows an outstanding year for the Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate where reservations and day visits have increased, resulting in record visitor numbers and a reported turnover increase well in excess of 15% for 2014.

 

Other achievements for the Estate this year include winning Best Hotel Restaurant category in the Cornwall Life Food & Drink Awards and being the only business from the South West to reach the finals in the prestigious Professional Beauty Awards for their C Bay Spa - with the winner to be announced in February.
