Sheffield optometrist sponsors champion junior football team
An optometrist based in Sheffield has come forward as a sponsor for smart new training jackets for the Crosspool Juniors Under-8s Boys Football Club.
Alex Gage contacted the manager of the football team after seeing an article about the team on the Crosspool Forum.
The Crosspool Juniors Under-8s Boys play in the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League Division and are the October Challenge Cup 2014/15 winners. The Under-8s train at Tapton School, Crosspool, in the winter.
Alex Gage, who owns practices in Crosspool and Woodseats, said: "I have watched the boys play and I am impressed with their teamwork, camaraderie and attitude to the game.
"I'm proud to support this team and wish them the best of luck for the season."
Matt Franklin, team manager, said: "Alex's links to sport, his local interest and understanding of the importance of grass-roots football in the community makes him the perfect sponsor for us.
"Not only do the training jackets that he sponsored look great, but they keep the boys dry and warm, which is obviously important."
