Dr Hilary Jones to open the Occupational Therapy Show 2014

Visitors attending the upcoming Occupational Therapy Show at Birmingham's NEC will hear first hand the importance of healthcare collaboration, as television's Dr Hilary Jones opens the show on Wednesday 26th November 2014.

The famous doctor will be attending the first day of the OT Show with specialist seating manufacturer Repose Furniture, which recently appointed Dr Hilary as the company's expert healthcare advisor.

As well as giving an opening speech about the importance of collaboration in the healthcare sector, Dr Hilary Jones will also deliver a live consultation entitled Are You Sitting Comfortably, during which he will discuss issues of posture and pressure management in a health care setting.

Ahead of the event Dr Hilary Jones said, "I am delighted to be opening the Occupational Therapy Show. It's fantastic to see an exhibition that specifically targets healthcare professionals being so popular. My opening speech will address the power of collaborative working; which is something I feel passionate about."

Repose is committed to designing specialist seating solutions which place comfort, functionality and adaptability at their core. Last year the company worked with practitioners through The Coventry University Health Design & Technology Institute (HDTI), to evaluate some of its key health chairs with a view to adding new advanced features that will make the lives of therapists, healthcare professionals, and patients easier. Through innovative design and by working closely with the healthcare sector to develop its chairs, the company is fast becoming a major supplier into the sector with thousands of chairs delivered each year.

This is the first time Repose, which can be visited at stand A1, will be exhibiting at the OT Show. The company has created its own unique range of posture positive chairs, including the recently launched Melrose chair. The posture positive range is built with the user in mind and gives the option of different supportive back styles and pressure management seat cushions, coupled with the ability to select different back angle and leg angle options that enable care professionals to offer tailored pressure relief solutions. The company previously showcased the chair at both NAIDEX and TradeDays exhibitions and Managing Director, Lisa Wardley said that she is looking forward to demonstrating it at the OT Show with Dr Hilary Jones.

She said, "Our working relationship with Dr Hilary is something we are incredibly proud of, and so to be asked for him to launch the OT Show, is fantastic. We have worked hard, both with Dr Hilary and a number of other healthcare professionals and academics, in order to gain credible insight on our products which allows us to continually develop our range of specialist seating solutions. The OT Show is the perfect platform for Repose to showcase our healthcare seating range to occupational therapists from a variety of specialist areas."

The OT Show takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from November 26th- 27th. It is the UKs largest dedicated CPD education and trade event just for Occupational Therapists. The two day event welcomes Occupational Therapists from a range of specialist areas to educate, inspire and raise the profile of the allied healthcare profession.
