How to use black in the lounge

The key to relishing the colour black in the lounge is how you plan to accessorise, furnish and decorate the rest of the room.

There is no doubt that classy black is one of the most dramatic colours you can choose for this much-used room; it's exotic, passionate, exciting, dark, moody, striking and you are sure to impress any visitors as soon as they enter. It's a bold, beautiful choice and one that is best limited to one wall only or an alcove, for example.

In order not to live in the dark, lift the room with neutral, cream, light grey or white furnishings, light coloured adjoining walls and light wooden floors, for example.  Glass and diamante ornaments are great accompaniments too.
