Stewart Garden Schools Campaign with Pippa Greenwood

Schools receive kits nationwide

Participants in the Stewart Garden Schools Campaign with Pippa Greenwood 2014 will soon be receiving their campaign kits, comprising a wide range of gardening products.

Stewart Garden, the gardening division of UK manufacturer Stewart, has again teamed up with gardening broadcaster and columnist, Pippa Greenwood, and leading industry partners to encourage pupils to get involved in ‘grow your own'.

Stewart Garden developed the Stewart Garden Schools campaign in 2012, with the aim to get children across the UK growing their own fruit and vegetables.

The Stewart Garden Schools campaign is also supported by Worldwide electronics and manufacturing company, Brother, who are supplying there innovative and sophisticated GL200 garden label printer, while the professional grower's specialist, J Arthur Bowers, will be providing further support in the form of supplying their quality compost.

Each school taking part in the Stewart Garden Schools campaign with Pippa Greenwood will receive a kit including:

  • X10 scoops

  • X 5 potting tray & shelves

  • X2 22cm premium seed trays

  • X10 22cm kitchen garden propagator sets

  • X50 plant pots

  • X5 70cm Corinthian troughs

  • X1 pack of eight, 5 litre watering cans

  • X1 68cm electric kitchen garden propagators

The kits, which are being donated to 100 schools nationally, from the Isle of Wight to Scotland, also include seeds and compost provided by participating garden centres. Pupils will receive a booklet produced by Stewart Garden and three varieties of easy grow vegetables seeds provided by Pippa Greenwood.

To win, Stewart Garden is asking participating schools to be imaginative and submit inspiring ways on how they are maximising their kit. Entries can be submitted through photographs, videos, scrapbooks or slideshows. The judges encourage the entries to be as creative as possible. The top 10 schools will receive a visit from the judges and their feedback will be collated and a winner will be announced in September.

The winning school will receive £1,100 to be spent at their local garden centre. Nine runners up will each receive £500, with £100 of each prize being donated by J Arthur Bowers.

Pippa Greenwood is one of Britain's most popular gardening columnists, a highly respected author and the presenter of several television and radio programmes. Pippa's regular writing commitments include BBC Gardeners' World Magazine and a monthly page in NFU Countryside Magazine. For eighteen years Pippa was the gardening columnist for The Mirror newspaper.
