Wallwork Advanced Aerospace Thermal Processing Services at FIA2018

Cambridge aerospace component thermal processing engineers, Wallwork, are exhibiting at Farnborough International Airshow, July 16-20. “We will be on stand 2427, one of our largest ever. Since the last event in 2016, we have plenty to shout about including new prime approvals and substantial investments in new vacuum brazing and plasma nitriding processes and equipment,” enthused site director, Simeon Collins.

Two new vacuum brazing units have been set-up, one at the company’s Manchester site the other at Cambridge. Further to their commissioning, both units have received Rolls-Royce approvals. In addition, we also carry approvals from BAe Systems, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Safran, Bombardier, Moog and many others, for specific heat treatment and plasma nitriding processes.

Wallwork Cambridge were among the first companies in the UK to achieve the important aerospace quality standard AS9100 revision D. With an expanding order book, there is major investment in a further vacuum brazing furnace and two additional plasma nitriders at the site.

The company has also developed superior Nitron CA coatings that are an environmentally safe alternative to hard chromium plating (HCP). Nitron CA coatings will help manufactures comply with REACH regulations in the EU and OSHA legislation in the USA.

As well as a full range of heat treatment services, the company also provides Nadcap approved processing of complex aluminium and magnesium components, typically used in satellite and aircraft parts.

“Our range and quality of services developed for aerospace component manufacturers has never been broader, deeper or stronger. This reflects our growing order book and confidence in the future,” CEO Peter Carpenter concluded.
