Celebrate the Royal Wedding at Redhead Day UK
Celebrate the Royal Wedding at Redhead Day UK

Celebrate red hair and the Royal Wedding with Redhead Day UK as part of a fun-filled and unique day on Saturday 19 May 2018.

Taking place at Cecil Sharp House near London's Regents Park, the event celebrates redheads everywhere, with up to 1,000 visitors expected on the day.

Proceeds from the event will go to the British Skin Foundation and their incredible research into skin cancer - a disease that is more prevalent amongst those with ginger hair.

Emma Kelly from Redhead Day UK said, "We're excited that this year's event coincides with the Royal Wedding - a massive day of celebration for one of the country's best-known redheads! We're hoping to make 2018 even bigger and better than before: past events have seen us welcome around 800 people on the day, but we're hoping to celebrate redheads everywhere with over 1,000 visitors if we can!"

Redhead Day UK will feature a host of live entertainment, talks, refreshments, merchandise and more, with something for everyone to enjoy. 2014 X Factor star (and redhead) Helen Fulthorpe will be performing her songs on the stage, while author Jacky Colliss Harvey will talk about her journal ‘My Life as a Redhead’.

Expect comedy and musical performances from other red-headed entertainers, along with a talk on ginger genetics from Dr Adam Rutherford.

Children can enjoy games and more from an entertainer dressed as Frozen's Princess Anna, while businesses attending include redhead dating and social networking site Hot For Ginger, UPF50+ swimwear brand Noma Fashion, and Karma Cola's Gingerella ginger ale to keep visitors refreshed on the day.

The event opens at 12pm on Saturday, 19 May 2018, with coverage of the Royal Wedding playing out on the big screen. Visitors can also be a part of the wedding festivities with a cardboard Prince Harry cutout and bride props making for great photo opportunities.

The entertainment will continue right through to the evening with performances from drag queen Gingzilla, and the Redhead Day UK stall will offer mementoes of the event, with t-shirts with redhead shade statements, logo pin badges, keyrings, posters and even Royal Wedding-themed ginger merchandise.

Tickets for Redhead Day UK are now available from cecilsharphouse.org. Adult tickets are priced at £9 each and include a £5 Prince Harry themed novelty voucher, to spend at the Redhead Day UK merchandise stall on the day. Under 12s can attend for free (with no £5 voucher), but still must register for their own free ticket through the ticketing link and must be accompanied by a paying adult.
