Bradford Garden Centre helps local primary school with its volunteer week

A Bradford Garden Centre has donated over 1,000 bulbs for a family friendly floral initiative at Top Hill C of E Primary School.

Debbie Johnston, who is responsible for Parent and Community Liaison at the Low Moor school, contacted Tong Garden Centre to ask for their help with a special project for volunteer week and the team at Tong were only too happy to oblige.

Mrs Johnston explained the rationale for the project: "We wanted to engage our pupils and their families in a bulb planting day to brighten up the school and community environment.

"Each family planted five bulbs in the community areas in and around the outside of the school as part of our volunteer week and everyone had a great time. We're very grateful to Tong for donating the bulbs to make this initiative possible."

Jo Dales, Tong Garden Centre's Marketing Manager, was happy to help: "We're a very community and family focussed business, so we were delighted to support a project that benefits both of these areas with beautiful spring flowers."

Hill Top CE Primary School and Nursery is part of the family of Bradford Church Schools and teaches 210 pupils plus 52 part-time nursery pupils.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 17 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars.
