Cardiff landmarks turn out the lights for WWF Earth Hour
Some of Cardiff’s major landmark buildings will be turning out the lights this Saturday as part of WWF Earth Hour.

Cardiff Castle, City Hall, Cardiff Central Library, St David’s Theatre, the New Theatre and the Norwegian Church will turn their external lights off and join hundreds of millions of individuals and businesses from more than 180 different countries and more than 7000 cities to mark Earth Hour from 8.30pm – 9.30pm on Saturday 24th March.

Cabinet Member for Clean Streets, Recycling & Environment, Cllr Michael Michael said: “The Council has participated in Earth Hour for the past 9 years to demonstrate our commitment to taking action on climate change. Last year we were joined by around 280,000 members of the Welsh public and more than 300 Welsh schools – I’d encourage as many people as possible to join us this weekend.”

Earth Hour Promise: This year, individuals and organisations are encouraged to make an ‘Earth Hour Promise’, such as switching to green energy, opting for public transport, lessening their meat consumption, using reusable coffee cups or reducing food waste

You can register your Promise on the WWF website:  https://www.wwf.org.uk/wales/earthhour
