The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018: Tour De Troops and The Soldiers Run
The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018: Tour De Troops and The Soldiers Run Pass

The Exciting Tour De Troops endurance event is back for 2018, after huge success in 2017. This charity event is the ultimate cycle ride, starting at Lands End and finishing at John O'Groats during a challenging five days. That event is followed by a second one, the Soldiers Run Pass in July. Together they make up the Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018.

Both events are open to military staff and civilians alike and are ideal for those looking for a mental and physical challenge which also encourages teamwork and esprit-de-corps between military personnel and civilians. The event also raises funds and awareness for the Felix Fund, supporting bomb disposal experts and their families.

The Tour De Troops cycle event starts at Lands End in Cornwall on Thursday June 7 2018. Stops on the 874-mile route include Bridgewater, Warrington, Moffat and Newtonmore before finishing at John O’Groats in Scotland on Monday June 11 2018.

Cyclists will be placed in groups who will each have a ride captain. All participants of Tour De Troops will receive a pre-cycle briefing and a Ride Support Plan. Along the way, various inspirational events including talks from guest speakers will take place. Accommodation, food, medical and bike support are included for every entrant.

The event follows on from the success of previous Tour De Troops events. 2017 saw military cyclists ride from Edinburgh to Bielefield in Germany in 15 days, averaging about 100 miles per day in scorching temperatures.

This year the event is open to all, civilians and military personnel alike, with the aim of providing an enjoyable mental and physical endurance challenge whilst creating links through teamwork.

This year the cycle event will be followed by a second challenge, The Soldiers Pass Run. This will take place on Saturday July 14 2018 and will include a range of distance options of 5K, 10K, 21K, 42K and 100K routes. All run routes start and finish at Didcot and stretch as far as Reading for the 100K route.

These two endurance events have been created by Captain James Wadsworth CGC and together make The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018. Both events offer sponsorship opportunities.
