Windsor Clive Primary School in Cardiff is supporting the national campaign to encourage children, young people and adults to celebrate their uniqueness.

The staff and children at the school are holding their own ‘Being Yourselves Day' today, February 8, to help promote the theme of Children's Mental Health Week 2018, organised each year by the Place2Be charity. 

The school hopes that its Being Yourselves Day will raise £100 for the charity. The staff and children have been busy organising activities which include having a non-uniform day and making a whole-school paperchain, celebrating every pupil's uniqueness. 

There's even a guess the baby competition, where the staff will be displaying their baby photos, for the children to try and put names to the faces. 

Headteacher at Windsor Clive Primary School, Mrs Vicky Meadows, said: "We are delighted to support Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week again this year, and to help promote the importance of the Being Yourselves theme. 

"Children and young people can sometimes find it difficult to see themselves in a positive way, which is why the work we are doing with Place2Be to help them feel comfortable with who they are is so important. 

"Our children's well-being and emotional and mental health is a top priority for us, and we have worked closely with Place2Be over many years to help offer support. We have had visits from schools across the country, keen to see the work we are doing. Many schools have also started working with Place2Be after visiting Windsor Clive." 

Place2Be is the UK's leading children's mental health charity, providing in-school support and expert training to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff. 

Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council and Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills, Cllr Sarah Merry, said: "It is vital that we ensure the health and wellbeing of our children and young people, their families and our staff. Mrs Meadows and her team are delivering best practice in this area and I am looking forward to visiting Windsor Clive primary and helping them celebrate Children's Mental Health Week 2018."
