FREE STALLS FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS AT MIDDLESBROUGH’S SECOND YOUTH MARKET

PRESS RELEASE

FREE STALLS FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS AT

MIDDLESBROUGH’S SECOND YOUTH MARKET

Middlesbrough College and Dundas Indoor Market and Shopping Centre are calling for budding young entrepreneurs to take part in Middlesbrough’s second Youth Market in the Dundas Shopping Centre on Saturday 19 May.

Market stalls are free for young people, between the ages of 16 and 25, to sell a range of goods and services from 10am to 4pm.  This second Youth Market follows the success of the first event in November 2017 which saw young people from across Teesside selling handmade jewellery, hot takeaway food, cakes, bespoke photoframes, mobile phone covers and accessories, ladies fashion and fantasy alternative arts.

“We want to replicate the success of our first Youth Market with a mix of experienced young business people and first time traders selling their products for a day in a safe and supported environment, to see if they could consider it as a career,” says Dundas Market Manager David Harris.

“Once again we’ve teamed up with Middlesbrough College to encourage their students to take part.”

The Dundas Youth Market will kick off Dundas Indoor Market’s contribution to Love Your Local Market in May 2018, an international campaign to encourage entrepreneurs of all ages to consider local markets as a home for their businesses.

Mr Harris continues: “The Youth Market is the first of a number of initiatives we will be announcing for Love Your Local Market which will help show that our community friendly market is a great place to shop with good value and personal service from all our traders, and the natural place to start and grow a business in Middlesbrough.”

Part of the Dundas Shopping Centre, Dundas Market is the only indoor market in Middlesbrough.

Open six days a week from Monday to Saturday, it has more than 20 welcoming market stalls, including Sweet Corner, Jean’s Kitchen and Danny’s Family Butchers, selling everything from handbags to gladrags, furniture to fizzbombs, make ups to vapes, candles to mirrors, babywear to bhajis and low fat Chicken Shawarmas, as well as mobile phone and tablet repairs.

In addition to the Youth Market, Dundas Shopping Centre holds monthly Food and Craft, and Vintage and Handmade Markets, where traders can apply for a stall.

To apply for a free stall at the Youth Market, or to register for any other market, please visit www.dundasshoppingcentre.co.uk/events and fill in an application form, or email david.harris@dundasindoormarket.co.uk.
